Lucifer 

What about Black Magic in Turin? Lucifer fell down from the Heaven because of his vanity. In Turin Lucifer is represented in a monument in Piazza Statuto . The square is the westerly point of Roman Turin. In the centre there is the angel topped monument , a heap of scattered rocks with white figures which celebrates the workers who built the Frejus tunnel through the Alps. For people in Turin its meaning is deeper: it is the ‘black heart’ of the city.

The gloomy reputation of the square dates back to the Romans who believed that the west, where the sun sets, was the meeting point of light and dark, good and evil. So they chose this spot, the vallis occisorum, as a place for executions and to bury their dead. The remains of their cemetery lie deep beneath your feet.

Statue in Piazza Statuto

Parliamo del diavolo, Satana o Lucifero … dopo essersi ribellato a Dio era caduto sulla Terra. Ma quali sono state le conseguenze per gli uomini? Si dice che abbia donato all’uomo la conoscenza. 

Quale? Il Santo Graal, l’occhio divino e Lucifero sono solo una parte del complicato intreccio che avvolge la storia passata. Spesso parlando di esoterismo si cita il “terzo occhio”, quello che secondo il mito Lucifero ha perso durante la sua caduta, lo smeraldo, incastonato nella sua fronte.

A Torino quest’ avvenimento è rappresentato dalla statua dedicata al traforo del Frejus, opera del conte Marcello Panissera di Veglio, posta al centro di Piazza Statuto. E’ una statua composta da grande massi con uomini che si poggiano sopra a rappresentare il duro lavoro degli scavi in montagna. L’ingegno umano che ha la meglio e che riesce a costruire è rappresentato infine dall’angelo alato alla sommità della piramide, un angelo con in mano una penna, come se fosse nell’atto di scrivere, Lucifero, il portatore di Luce o nel nostro caso conoscenza.
